The whole machinery for “The Bird Can’t Fly” is put into operation. The producers flew to Cape Town. We appointed a line producer; Rachel Young from Razor Sharp Films. We went to see the location for several times, both in rainy and sunny weather, had budget meetings and talked about figures and figures and figures and figures.
But I concentrated on the casting of little boy River. This won’t be exactly easy; biggest problem will be his language. I want the kid to be able to speak a kind of neutral English, while most kids here speak a rather strong Cape-Town accent.
