While working in Bombay on ‘War for a Kiss’, I got a very odd request by email: would I like to do a one month research to the identity of Oldenzaal, a small provincial Dutch town near the German border… I said yes. Why? Because the two big other researches that I did – in Bombay and South Africa – taught me a lot about other worlds, but, to be honest, I hardly know my own country. I will report about my experiences in a daily column in the local newspaper Tubantia as well as in this weblog (I’m sorry, it will be only in Dutch).
So while my casting director in London is busy with ‘The Bird Can’t Fly’, my script for ‘War for a Kiss’ is waiting for a next draft, the montage of the documentary ‘Portrait of a director’ has nearly reached the finishing touch, my novel ‘De kus van de weduwe’ is going in it’s fourth print, I’m off to a new unknown world…
