While working on my Bombay story on a wonderful terrace looking out over the Atlantic Ocean I got bad news.
Firstly the Dutch filmfund dismissed our appeal against their refusal to support us financially; though my producer said she is “not ready with them yet”. Whatever that means… Secondly the men who decide about the set up of the CV construction (the Dutch favourable tax scheme to finance films) needed more figures and numbers. I can’t explain this, for I don’t understand it myself. In any case this means we will probably not be able to shoot in November. Somebody once told me that making a film is the most insecure job one can imagine. I begin to believe that. So I decided to guide my energy in another direction for now and go back to Bombay to write.
