sea swimmers

Sea swimmers is my new podcast. It is an audio mosaic of various people who swim in the sea in summer and winter, crossing the Channel or the IJsselmeer. For them, sea swimming is more than just a sport – it is a challenge, a passion and a medicine.

You hear Mariëtte from Texel, who first braved the rough waves of the North Sea at the age of 14 and has now been swimming the crossing from Den Helder to Texel for 47 years. About Verena, who swam across the Channel at the age of 19 to prove she could do it. About Marit, who swam across the Channel while battling nausea and cold.

About Eddy, who swims the length of the Dutch coast on his own. About Rineke, 79 years young, who goes into the sea in summer and winter and doesn’t feel the cold. And about Peter, who learned that the sea not only gives strength, but also shows boundaries.

In the meantime, I have started a new podcast and find that telling stories through audio makes me very happy. Another one in a few months!
