Research in Tokyo part 7:
One of the characters in my new novel will be a hostess, and I’m trying to get as much information about this nightlife world as possible. Today I had meetings with several girls who are or were hostesses, and I talked with waiters who work in the business.
This Ginza street is spangled with clubs. It is not possible to enter clubs alone at night, so my super guide (a former hostess) brought me, before opening time, to several clubs in Ginza.
While I walk back to the subway the ladies who do the actual work start arriving.
