concentration

It’s so special to experience the amazing contrasts again between being a director and being a writer. Besides the trivial difference as lonely opposite groups work, there is the totally other way of concentration. When you are a director (that is, me, in any case) I need to be open, to listen a lot and constantly making decisions for everybody. When I write I often feel I’m not the one who is in charge, my characters are. This is always a very exciting feeling.

I’m not ready with the polishing of my new novel ‘Het laatste land’ (The Last Land), when I was working on it I had the feeling some of the chapters needed a real re-write, that’s what I’ve been doing the last weeks, I locked myself up and wrote day after day. I’m very happy the Dutch summer is late this year and the rain keeps on falling.

And of course you can keep following my observations from my writing desk on twitter @threesanna
